I did. Bankone. I was asked to give them a temp US address first, then changed the address back to canada one. Different bank may have different policy.

I think it's not true.It depends on how you setup your account. I applied TD waterhouse account on web site of TD canada trust. It is kind of "foreign account" in TD waterhouse and no tax need to be paid to US goverment. However, if the interest on this account is more than 10 dollars(I can't remember the exact number), a form will be sent out to Canadian government and they will take care of that part.

anyway, more details are available in TD's web site. It's free, but you need to make a deposite when you open an account.
