I personally doubt the "drought" theory. The fact is modern Mayans don't know the advanced science their "ancestors" knew 1200 years ago. It's very likely that the Ancient Mayans are not the same people of modern Mayans.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. Drought could reduce the population, but the reduction of population should not cause the disappearance of civilization.The knowledge was carried on from about 800 BC to 900 AD, it should have continued to pass through generations. But it didn't. Why?
