Generally for amount below US$10,000 in one transfer, no questions asked when you transfer the money through bank.If the amount is above $10,000, your bank will ask you to declare the source of money (for money laundry concerns). Still the chances that you get taxed on the principle amount is slim, even if you haven't declared it upon landing. Only when you are really filthy rich, and have no proof that your money is legal income earned in China before your landing, then Revenue Canada will come to get you.
