Sure. The medication you take when you are in hospital is free. And even food is free too. Nobady pays for that. I don't think he's telling the truth.

do you contact financial aid office in your school? they should know what kind of help you can get from government or even insurance company

我觉得比较直接的办法是你去找一下你所在学校的国际学生顾问，（一般要约），然后把你的情况和问题原原本本告诉她，一般她会告诉你该找谁，怎么解决这类问题，反正医院是不会强收你费的，不象国内有些医院

my 2 cents1. don't talk back to your wife, always listen and be agreeable
2. take her out to a movie, or a long walk in nice surroundings, i.e. park.
3. Find some books about psycology, the more you know, the better you can handle the situation.

As I know, the tuition you paid might include medical insurance that can cover a majority of medicine expenses. You could consult the health service in your school.
