Fund accounting is slightly diff than equity trading. Allow me to reiterate, Funds does not grow in price like stocks, they grow in units. Using the example above, in year one you put in $100, say the unit price was$20, thus you have bought 5 units. The growth being 150% hence you would have 7.5 Units at the end of year one.
In year two, the loss is 50% fo 7.5 Units, hence your investment is now worth 3.75 Units. The price of $20 is absolute to you. Every person has a different cost base depending on the spot price of the transaction
In other words, you will see that price for CDN Dividend Fund on April 27 is 15.5, up 10 cents, that means your unit price would hold at 15.5.
