Usually plople ask like this means they don't know too much about that. the cheapest kit with 2 lens I have seen only$400. after that you will know what your needs. or you may spend 1500 in you don't like or need.

yes, just because i don't know about the products, i came here to ask for any recommandation. but i don't want to buy a cheap one and update soon later, i'd like to buy one which is kind of leading one, just for using more years.

那就先用Canon 5d Mark II + 24-105 F4 L IS 镜头起步,至少四年之内不用考虑升级了。以后根据需要陆续加镜头,Canon的定焦镜头还是有很多选择的, 变焦也很出色.

why not 5D or 7D? which one from Nikon can PK 5D mark II ?

5D mark II is between Nikon D3 and D700

i'm really not professional, and don't want to be one. i think 5DII is also kinda high to me, is that right? and by the way, full frame is so necessary?
-woolala(woolala);
2009-10-8
(#5595695@0)
-
it depends on your shooting stype. if you shoot a lot of low light and print big or pixel peep, then full frame wins big time. otherwise it's a non-issue. if you shoot at long reach often, then APS-C is better because of the crop-factor.
-genjurok(Genjuro);

(#5595778@0)
-
basically, FF wins at 1) high ISO IQ ( ISO>1600) 2) you can shoot super,super wide. APS-C wins at 1) cost 2) weight and size, lens are smaller and lighter, easy to carry 3) longer reach , crop factor 1.6 for Canon and 1.5 for Nikon

看中端是什么定义了。不过更好是问一问自己想怎样用相机。如果不想投入时间,精力,不用买单反。

if you're not serious about photography, want to be able to shoot video and travel light, I'd recommend a 500D(t1i) + 18-270 Tamron with VC(convenient walkaround lens)+fast primes for portrait/low light: canon 50/1.8, or 28/1.8 or sigma 30/1.4

thanks for all your information. i also did some research, it seems Cannon 7D or Nikon D300s is what i like now cuz of video function. am i right to think in this way?

(#5595626@0)

nobody can give you a definite answer, but if you want full manual control of Video, film more than 5 minutes continuously, and do slow motion stuff (60p/50p->25p), then don't choose D300s since it supports none of them

if you're neither crazy about high ISO IQ nor a pixel peeper, then 7D(not full frame) would serve you just fine.To get superwide, you have to buy EF-S mount lens, which isn't very useful if you plan to upgrade to FF soon, otherwise it's a non-issue.

some shots I took with 450D under low light, so you can get roughly how APS-C camera performs when it's dark, its weakest point compared to FF.500D PQ is about the same, with a bigger ISO range than 450D, 7D high ISO PQ is half stop better reportedly.

1) 30mm, f1.8, 1/50 second, iso 800

2) 30mm , f1.4, 1/15 second, iso 1600, it was in a club, very dark, darker than the picture looks. i shot JPEG, not raw, didn't run noise reduction, only resize, or it might have less noise. not great, but usable to me.

they were all handheld, btw: 5D II high ISO is about 2 stops better than 450D, but the 70-200 f2.8 lens is too big/heavy to carry around for my liking and the reach is not long enough for me, thus I'm gonna get a 7D soon, for video primarily :D

thanks a lot, but that's waaaaay too much credit.In all honesty, I'm similar to you: not so serious abt photography, like travel.I do want to shoot amazing quality video and travel light though, hence consumer level camcorder won't cut it for me

越野的红色 and Henry Liu are great photographers, you can learn a lotfrom them for sure, but not me, I'm just another amateur who doesn't really care that much about IQ :D For me, as long as I get a decent shot at flickr slide show size, it's ok

if you like travel and serious photography but not want to go professional level...Get D300/s + 16-85mm (VERY good IQ, color and zoom range for travel) a lot better than 18-200 and other kit lens
or D300/s + 17-55mm (expensive professional lens, standard zoom)
For videos just get a video camera Sony TG5 (better Optical stablization) or Sanyo HD1010 (better in still picture) or a serious Canon HD camera if you like realy HD videos.

Note that consumer level camcorder wins at convenience to use and AF, but as far as image quality goes, and be able to control depth of field, or low light ability, it's light years behind DSLR, no joke.

if you just want to simply record things, camcorder is much better, no doubt. But if you want to make something creative and beautiful, then there is NO contest, absolutely none between camcorder and DSLR. Just look at these videos :

another question: do you want to bring camera AND camcorder on a trip?or prefer just one that does both pic/video in high quality? I did the former on a trip last year, and to say the experience isn't great is an understatement:D

great, a new lesson to me today. i think we need more shooting than video, why we were thinking to have this fuction is just in case anytiem it needed, but most time, we'd like just taking photos
-woolala(woolala);

(#5597915@0)

sounds to me you 're not that crazy about video quality/feature like me :D then i guess any of 500D, 7D, D90, D300s will do for you. For pics, IQ wise, not much between them, feature wise they're very different.

of course, we love 5DII and 700D, but we are afraid that we won't make all the functions work the best, then it's kinda waste money.

they're more similar than different, in fact I'd argue all APS-C camera release in last year or so have similar IQ. Only thing to remember: 5000D doesn't have built-in focusing motor, lens without motor can't autofocus on it, you have to manual focus
