Buy a caulking gun (<$10), and the caulking of the color you like (buy the most expensive one(~$6)!!!!! if you don't want to regret. Cheap one claim to last 20+ yrs, which is a true lie. It last 3 months for me. then crack...)

可能是比较silly的问题。这silicon 和caulking 是一样的东西吗？还是silicon 是caulking的一种？

silicon 是材料；caulking 是把 silicon 注入缝隙的动作。缝隙大的话呢，考究一点，在缝隙里面先填入rod（有点象香烟的海绵头，碰到湿气，它立刻膨胀，堵死缝隙），然后再caulking，俗称rod & caulking。silicon也是有讲究的。你想啊，窗户和墙之间在一定的条件下是有相对位移的（deflection），比如讲低层建筑最大3/8"。如果silicon没有足够的韧性去迎合这样的位移，就要又开裂了。当然如果低层建筑相对位移大于3/8"，那房屋结构本身需要加强了。
