I bought a de-icing cable and simply put it through the pipe (and the gutter).

Could you tell me more about de-icing cable? Where did you buy and how much for that? Thanks.

I bought it from Rona. HD should has it too. there're different lengths (like 60 ft, 100ft, etc). I got a 60ft one, roof de-iceing cable. Didn't follow the insall pattern and simply put it in side the gutter (and down the pipe).

Where do you put the power bar close to the pipe? do you turn off in the evening?

I just drag it out of the pipe, and plug into the outside power socket which is about 2m away. I just turn it on when needed, usually 2 or 3 days a time and disconnect when don't need it.

Thanks, do you have to stick the round rubber on the gutter, it is too short from power bar

Today, I use the de-icing cable, it works well, thanks. I even use a wind blower to melt the ice around the gutter
