在温哥华, 房租是不可以抵税的, 所以这种情况下对你的退税没有影响. 只是他逃税了.

I am in the same situaation. My landlady told me the rent will make no difference to tax in BC. I am not sure yet. In ON, it's said 6% of rent can get out of your tax.
