wrong.you are absolutely wrong! solaris's performance is actually worse than Linux, however, its scalability and stability is much better than linux. solaris x86 and solaris sparc is also different. regarding ur working experience, i think there are so many ppl found a job without canadian experience. ur language will be ur biggest bottleneck at the beginning. -speed(如风); 2001-5-17 {357} (#73635@0)

From my experience, Solaris can only be installed on Pentium matchine, not AMD or Cyrion(?). The motherboard is not important, as long as it supports a Pentium CPU. -guest:another newcomer; 2001-5-17 (#73661@0)

I've successfully installed solaris8 for intel on my pc, just like to install it on those for sparc, mine is cyrix300, you can get some infomation from the faq of www.sun.com -mm1(feather的mm); 2001-5-19 (#75988@0)
As if there is a special version of Solaris that can install in PC.My friend have succeeded install in a pc based on PII 400.but its hardware support is really poor,some kinds of network adapter of Intel and 3com are not supported.
