Opus, I thought you want to travel to edmonton.Last summer, my friends and I rented a minivan for one week to east coast of Canada. Then rate is about 700 CAD, kilometer unlimited. The gas cost about 150 CAD. But if you want to rent a Car to Edmonton, and not back to Toronto, the Car renting Company maybe charge you another 200 CAD for different location return. It is just a reference. Good luck.
If I go with your family to Edmonton, I don't think I can come back by myself, too lonely.
