There must be an essential difference between villain and hero, otherwise we could just conveniently call Winston Churchill a villain, couldn't we? ^_^Both Kate and De Tourvel fall for villains with their eyes wide-open simply because as exceptional women they are able to perceive and appreciate the uniqueness (in your word outstanding) of such villains (or heroes if you prefer that way).
