枫下沙龙 / 梦想天空 / Mr. Dumb, I've been trying to compose an imagist poem to see if I could substantiate the essence of what Imagism and Its poetic artistry is portrayed to be.

And I've come up with one, though I'm not sure if it's what it supposed to be. My first try, my first cry.:)

RAINRAIN
By Wantbaby
On branches of Heaven
Blossom drops of Rain.
Joy of gray
Whispering feel of pray.

Not sure what I'm trying to convey, yet it IS indeed how I've felt through the day, a heavily rainy day.

It is very good. I enjoyed it because it is indeed poetic. I guess Pound may have chosen paradise instead of heaven, ecstasy instead of joy, and touch instead of feel. however, this is just "me" talking -- the "guesstimate" of a layman.

Theoretically and poetically speaking, RAIN is imagist or not?

I feel it is. That is why the Pound reference was brought up in my comments.

Appreciate your encouragement. What have you SEEN in RAIN? Could I have the opportunity to know how much the discrepancy would be between what you've seen and what I've written if there is Any?

a sweet-bitter yearning for the comfort of unknown assurance, dancing along the conflicting thrill between melancholy of the rain drop and intimidation of "feel".

I was praying to Lord to have mercy on us and to stop the rain right away. Why Imagism or Imagist Movement passed away? Do we have any recognizable modern Chinese poets that could be claimed as Imagists?

that is exactly the reason we made the statement that your ownership as a poet is terminated the minute you surrender your work to me, the reader or the audience. how many readings are there for as simple as 曲径通幽处,禅房花木深?

There was the conflicting thrill that you identified. The conflict and the discrepant thrill between my wish and Lord's will. I prayed, yet Lord won't promise my prayer be answered the way I expected. Intimidating indeed.

that is very true. and yet, as an atheist, I could not have cared any less about your reference to the "Lord", even if I do see it. all that makes me intrigued is the conflict, the hesitation, and the fleeting yet intimated stealth of "ecstasy".

I explored the comparison between T.S. Flint and Pound, and I felt that Flint seems more romantic than Pound. It's like Flint is a graphic design artist, while Pound a math professor. Flint is the swan and Pound is the still water that the swan is dazzling upon.

your perception about the difference between Flint and Pound is actually quite agreeable from my perspective. Pound, being a genuine poet himself, is indeed more "philosophical" than Flint. and that is not by accident - think of Martin Heidegger and Herbert Von Karajan. one must have some kind of fundamental pessimism of a philosopher to be even remotedly affliated with Nazi.

Pound's affiliation with Nazi is a matter of fact or just a literary rumour? If it's not a rumour, is it the fundamental reason why Imagist Movement's short-lived?

it is very, very factual. literary movements comes and goes, just like individuals. it is the nature of things. I don't believe it has too much to do with Pound's association with Nazi.

Any philosophical reason behind Pound's association with Nazi?

it is hard to say, although there are thousands, if not millions, articles and books about Pound's Nazi fiasco. how should we understand andinterpret the fact that great minds such as Martin Heidegger, Herbert Von Karajan and Ezra Pound would ever have been affiliated with Nazi's? is it possible the ultimate pessimism originated from their profound despair at the modern human condition and the desolated state of our industrial civilization, as vividly presented in T.S. Eliot's The Waste Land, somehow misguided their moral judgment by imbuing a false hope of salvation in the propaganda grandeur of the Third Reich?

Is my understanding of your interpretation correct that Pound's association with Nazi was in his point of view the ultimate solution to salvage the world from pessimism? Nazi to him was light to ship in the deep darkness?

it is my preferred or prejudiced reading. otherwise it is quite difficult to associate them with Nazi supporters.
