枫下沙龙 / 梦想天空 / Mr. Dumb, I'm apologetically sleepy and will further my exploration other time. Night night.

What's the reason "Nietzche went back to Greek tragedy"?

to acknowledge the fact that what we said had been uttered before, and not necessarily in an inferior manner. however, it is still our noble obligation to illustrate the "truth" of the universe in our own humble way.

Greek tragedy is where the "truth" of the universe derives? Why and how?

It is a figurative way of speaking regarding the "eternal recurrence" of human thinking. nothing is new. the essence is the same. we are born. we live. and we die. the only difference is the way we illustrate and bring forward,or reveal the essence, the "truth".

Asocial and apolitical, so that readers can understand poetic artistry beyond poetic artistry as it is?

Yet, my understanding is that social and political elements might be instrumental, cause they're heart and soul of poetry, aren't they?

I've tried to have some sense of feelings towards imagist poems, some outstanding and recognizable ones. I am lucky enough to bump into this one.The Swan
F.S.Flint
Under the lily shadow
And the gold
And the blue and mauve
That the whin and the lilac
Pour down on the water,
The fishes quiver.
Over the green cold leaves
And the rippled silver
And the tarnished copper
Of its neck and beak,
Toward the deep black water
Beneath the arches,
The swan floats slowly.
Into the dark of the arch the swan floats
And the black depth of my sorrow
Bears a white rose flame.

Flint, a prominent British imagist poet, not as well -known as Pound? Yet, I seem to have better understanding of images in his poems than in Pound's.

I'm quite stunned and dumbfounded by the Swan. Luxurious and spectacular images are shining like crown jewellery right in my eyes.

Sorrow, a flame, not just a flame, but a flame derives from a rose, a WHITE rose.

It's like the fire deriving from the ice. I've no idea why Flint's not as recognizable as Pound, yet to me, he is the ONE, THE ONLY ONE.

glad you have encountered your poet of "true love". I myself have been an illiterate for the last 20 years because I haven't read any thing remotely akin to literature. Imagism, to me, is anattempt to recognize, acknowledge, and accept the ephemeral and fragmentary nature of our "sense and sensibility", our sensuality, and to truthfully embody such nature in incoherent poetic images that are intended to rattle the coherent narrative of language.

Would I disappoint Flint, if I've genuinely felt immortality, NOT ephemerality, in the Swan?

a poet's exclusive or intellectual ownership to his own creation is terminated as soon as he publishes it, exactly in the same way our ownership to our children is forfeited the moment they leave their mother's womb. as a partial ownerof the poet's work, you may have as much saying as the poet himself
