本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Eight years ago, Small Potato(SP) came to a quiet small town in Canada as an exchange student to do her fourth year undergraduate study. That was a truly happy year – no pressure on study, a lot of social events, and also a romantic story ended up nowhere…
SP is a No Idea type person, opportunities fell on her rather than being seized by her. One ordinary afternoon, while she was day dreaming on a “Communication in English” class, the lady in charge of the Exchange Program broke in and asked all the fourth year students to go for an information session held by another a famous university – Without thinking too much, SP applied for that university and thus got into a prestigious business school to continue her master study majoring in accounting.
The following two more years were no fun for SP – endless assignments, weekly exams, and painfully looking for a co-op placement. The employers came to Campus in September, big four did not even offer her an interview…then a couple of small firms came, SP did not get a chance either…
What SP could do? From September till late November, SP experienced the following feelings: excited, disappointed, worried and finally almost depressed… Christmas was coming, SP still not find a coop for the next January… SP cried almost everyday, losing her self–confidence. But this wouldn’t save SP, Small Potato decided to be a Strong Potato, she went to the ICAO’s website https://www.ca2b.biz/u/links/ato/ and get the fax and phone numbers of all the designated training firms. She started cold calling one by one—“Good morning, my name is Strong Potato, I am currently doing my xx accounting degree in P business school and we have coop term from Jan to April, do you need any help during tax season? I’ve already finished personal tax courses….” Most receptionists said no and nicely hang up the phone.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
