I read the article. I have some questions for you:

1. Only Illinois issues certificate and licence separatly. If I want to register CPA exam in Illinois, do I have to fly to Illiois to take the exam? For example. I am in Vancouver. Can I take CPA exam in Seattle instead of travelling to Illinois even if I am a candidate of Illinois?

2. 7Y7 mentioned 'north america experience' in her article. So may Canadian accounting experience be recognized by US CPA organization for CPA licence?

3. CGA can take some advantage over other candidates for CPA purpose? some exams is able to be exempted?

我只用了becker正版教材。觉得物有所值。每门看了差不多３遍，题也做了两，三遍。成绩很好。不是做广告，becker 客服也不错。问问题，一般当天就有答复。周末也是如此。如果没考过，可以只附材料费（大概是几十元）得到最新教材和软件。所以完全没有后顾之忧，专心学习。如果选on-line or live class format，可以报税。最后用过的教材再处理了，所以实际支出在２０００元左右（original price 2.8K)。all in all, I think Becker is enough for the exams.

I think FAR is the most time consuming subject in terms of preparation time. The second one is REG. AUD and BEC are relatively easy. On the exam day, I had 4 seconds left when I finished FAR exam, and I sat there for 4 hours and didn’t move. I didn’t finish the second simulation of REG – I was asked to fill out a tax form that I had never seen. I don’t think I know how to do it even if I had time. But I think I finished 98% of the questions at least. I heard that some one who missed the entire second simulation passed. I had more than sufficient time for the other two exams. How long you need to prepare for each part totally depends on your background and how many hours you put in each week.

In terms of group study, I don’t think it will help much as each person is on his/her own schedule. Also, you don’t have to ask the easy questions. If the problem is hard, I don’t think others can help. But it may be helpful to exchange information.

Overall, I think the CPA exams are not that hard to pass but do take time to prepare. Or the other way around, if you take time to prepare, they are not hard to pass. Best luck to everyone on the journey! You can pm me if you have questions.

谢谢班长。我已经是老考生了。出国以后学历升级，会计证书更是走一路考一路。说的好听点CPA是锦上添花，不好听点说画蛇添足也行。考它纯粹是惯性，一下停不下来。看看简历虽小有成就感，但想想这小半辈子除了考试也没干别的。感慨，无奈居多。以后得换个活法了。多照顾照顾老公和孩子。

1. You may take the exam in Seattle, just find a closest Prometric test centre in Seattle.

2. Yes, Canadian experience is recognized by US CPA, however some states require public accounting experience (CPA or CA firms) to be licensed in these states.

3. No, CGAs in Canada has to take all four exams just like every other candidates. No exemptions.

A few people asked my how it takes to prepare for CPA. I feel the number of hours you need to prepare for CPA exams largely depends on your academic accounting knowledge and learning abilities. Depending on the nature of your experience, it may or may not be very helpful. I would say if you were (are), or equivalent to, an "A" student with an accounting major achieved in Canada, and you can invest 15 to 20 hours per week, you should be able to pass 4 parts in about one year with an average of 90. You need 75 to pass, but I have seen many very good marks.
