本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛第二天的会议中，公司重金请来的guest speaker给大家做了一次精彩的演讲，on leadership。这位speaker (这里称呼他为"S")对leadership有自己独到的见解，他的一些观点我
很认同也很令人深思，在这里和大家分享一下。
- Many say that leaders are born, but S doesn't feel this to be true. He thinks people evolve into leaders as key leadership attributes (eg vision,
communication, empowerment) are developed and acquired in their unique journeys.
- "Individuals carry their success and their failure with them. It doesn't depend on outside conditions" S asked all the attendees/officers this question
"How many of you would find that that quote to be true in your life?". Some of the officers said they buy into that, and others said "maybe yes
and maybe no, depend on circumstances". I was one of the others. S then asked "how would you define success in your life?", everyone answered differently,
of course, but no one answered that money alone defines success. S told us a quite interesting story, twenty years ago, at a networking function,
he met a young lady and asked her the question "What do you do?", the lady's response was that she was a CFO for a small but on going business. S then
asked her to tell him more. She told S that she was a housewife and mother of five (CFO for a small but on going business - her family). She had achieved
her definition of success. Very interesting. Going back to the S's previous quote and as a little exercise for everyone on this forum, on a scale of
zero to one hundred, how much do you find this quote to be true for you?
- S thinks we should all recognize that life is too short to go through it in misery. It is imperative that we live to be happy. A true leader
searches for solutions and helps others find solutions to the challenges they encounter. Simply forget about our problems and focus on finding the
solutions and get over with.
