The camera's resolution pretty much depends on the number of CCD pixels, I forgot the exact number just an example. Camera A has a 3,000,000 pixels CCD and use digital stabilizer, the 30 percent of that pixels used to compensate the hand shake, so the real number of working pixel is only 2,100,000. Camera B has only 2,700,000 pixels CCD, but with a optical stabilizer every pixels on that CCD is working pixel, the movement compensation achieved through a stabilizing mechanism that build into the camera lens. So don't get fooled by manufacturer's propaganda. Also, look at the optical zoom range, they are between 10X-20X, forget those so called 180X digital zoom. they are useless, I turned them off on my camera.
