If I have to pick one of those two lenses, I would definitely go for the Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 ED VR. The Nikon 24-120mm f/4G ED VR will probably deliver slightly better results, but as you saw from all the comparisons, the difference in real life pictures is not significant. The longer zoom of the 28-300 lens is much more useful for a "general walk around lens" and the 4mm difference on the wide angle side is almost not noticeable in the pictures.

The 240-120mm focal range overlaps with several other popular lenses in the Nikon's catalog (16-35mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm) and if you own some of them already, the 28-300mm will make more sense.

像我之前说的，我一般需要长焦的，300mm才起步。而且考虑到出门旅游，特别是没有特别摄影目的的旅游，肯定不想带一堆镜头，毕竟玩是主要的。有过带两个镜头都懒得换的经历。当然要出门专门摄影，那是要全副武装的。
楼上说的70-200肯定是好头，但这是拿苹果比橘子。不说广角，要70-200加1.4或1.7才够300mm，这价格就得至少2.5倍。重量呢？不可能出门游山玩水的时候随身的。
28-300mm肯定成像质量比不上2K以上的，但作为配新机的第一个镜头，我想还是应该够的，人机也要磨合的。D600毕竟是“低端”机，现在想看看这些最早吃螃蟹的怎么说，最好有人能review一下D600+28-300的组合。我不急。

对于这两个头的对比，你可以参考一下下面这篇测评。文章最后作者在出于综合考虑倾向于28-300的同时，肯定了24-120f4 的画质 'slightly better'。说实话，我不理解为什么他说仅有＂微小＂差别，因为单就是这里面的样片，在我看来，24-120f4无论在锐度、背景虚化还是饱和度上都比对手好很多。

更重要的是，24-120是全程f4，而28-300大约到了60mm (?)左右 f4光圈就没有了。同时从成像锐度和饱和度来看，28-300的最佳效果就是在50mm到120mm(?)左右焦段范围内。这样一来它的长焦部分就基本上只是功能性的，也就是说只是方便把远处的景物拉近，而成像质量相对平庸。这从文章里面120mm的光谱照片对比就能看出来。

凭心而论，28-300是非常不错的镜头。如果budget有限，只需要一个镜头包打天下，它的性价比非常吸引人。但如果你不满足于它的长焦表现，而开始考虑入手一些高端镜头比如你上面说的70-200f2.8 （尼康大三元之一）的时候，它的焦段一定会成为你的心理障碍。－这将是个非常awkward的组合。

So, who is this lens for? In my opinion it is for someone who can have (or has chosen to have) only one camera on them for various reasons when you don't know what kind of shot you'll have: daily walkaround, vacation, grab and go.

。Would I take it with me if I had planned to go somewhere to shoot something particular? No. I would take something better: primes, f2.8 or f4 zoom in that case.

。 Would I take it with me if I was going somewhere cool and maybe I would get a chance to shoot? Yes.

。 Would I take it on vacation? Of course.

。Would I take it to a museum or concert or dance recital? No. Way too dark and slow to focus in poor light.

。 Would I take it for my backup body if shooting outdoors? Yes.

。 Would I take it on a casual photo walk around the neighborhood or on a hike? Yes, in the day time.
