when he told you that he had insurance, he was telling you his insurance company would cover your personal lost, but you'd better find out a personal injury lawyer instead of asking policy number by yourself.

then if both party agrees to work with each other, you need to sign some approvals, means you give your lawyer permission to get needed information on behalf you, including contact with your doctor, dentist, and the owner of the restaurant, and other party involved in this issue.

you don't need to do anything but sign the approvals and wait. the lawyer will do everything, and what he/she got is a fair percentage of your total claim, normally is about 25% (you need to talk and find out by yourself with your lawyer)

if you need to do the treatment, talk to your lawyer and see whether they can arrange some dentists for you and whether you need to pay first and keep the receipts for claim.

the normal processing time will be 1-2 year, it depends on how busy the lawyer is and how long you recovered.

and for some cases people may make claim by themselves, but the lawyer will know better about everything, that's their job.

you can decide either to do it on your own or look for a lawyer. i have given everything i knew.

    就餐在一韩式餐馆，他家的笋豆硌碎了我的牙，因为非常痛，我要求去看牙医，与他讲不通，他只是一再说他有保险，可是就不给我保险公司的名字和他的保险号；我把吃的食物和Bill都拍了照片，就Call911，说了我的状况，他们派了急救车，但EMS说会他们不能送我看牙医，只能去医院，我的状况去医院也的等上好久，于是给我做了笔录，我就回家了。牙已经露神经了，我明天必须去治疗。如何获得这个餐馆的赔偿？请懂行的朋友指点一下，我做不到像车险那样先与保险公司沟通好，得到Permission再去治疗。还有如何才能知道这个餐厅的保险号？如果这颗牙保不住的话，花销太大了，我负担不起。跪求坛子里的法律专家帮助。

        I saw my dentist today, and was telled the tooth should remove and then need dental implantation, it is very expensive, and the treat around over 6-8 months. you said the claim processing need 1-2 year that means I claim compensation should wait after the treat? if the restaurant will close(it often happen) during the treat and claim time, who can compensate for me? I need decide quickly, because the tooth may be infected.

        I found a few lawyers on internet, and told my situation with them, they ask around $5000.00 fee for Small Claims Court, plus dentist fee, totally over 10 thousands, and I need pay first, my god! if I charge the restaurant by myself, what is the first step I can do?
