Nasdaq to Delist WorldCom, Inc.
NEW YORK, July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (Nasdaq®) today announced that it will delist the securities of WorldCom, Inc. (Nasdaq: WCOEQ - News, MCWEQ - News, MCPEQ - News). The decision was based upon the company's failure to comply with the Nasdaq listing requirement that the company remain current in its periodic filings with the SEC, and based upon concerns related to the Company's ongoing bankruptcy proceeding.

The delisting will be effective upon the open of business on Tuesday, July 30, 2002.

【本报讯】继世界通讯之后，美国第四大通讯运营商Qwest通讯也涉嫌造假。该公司涉嫌虚报营业额14亿美元，目前正接受美国司法当局的搜查，同时也正在研究与世通一样修正过去的业绩报告。其股价已从鼎盛期高达60美元跌至7月12日的2美元左右。

据《证券时报》7月25日报道，巧合的是，Qwest通讯的作假手法与世通非常相似。据报道，与世通1998年收购营业额为其2.5倍的MCI通讯公司一样，Qwest通讯也于1999年收购了营业额约为其5倍之多的美国大型通讯运营商——联邦西部电讯。其前任执行长纳切奥甚至不顾联邦西部电讯高层的反对，毅然对该公司进行了带有敌对性质的收购。这与世通前任执行长——收购了70多家公司的伯纳德·埃伯斯的经营手法完全相同。而且，纳切奥在公司出现赤字、裁员一万余人的情况下，自己却拿著巨额薪水。2001年他行使本公司股票购买权一次获得约7400万美元。自1997年出任执行长以来，其收入超过了3亿美元。

目前Qwest通讯的巨额债务已达266亿美元，足以与世通匹敌。一旦公司破产，其冲击力决不亚于世通。为了解决经营危机，前任执行长纳切奥于6月中旬辞职，由卢伯特继任。尽管新执行长上任后股票价格一度有所上升，但随著财报造假嫌疑的加大，股票价格再度下跌。
