if filter is new. you should check the CFM on all floor register. Dose it have strong air pressure come out form it? Again, you have to make sure the air is flow freely., do you have air conditioner in the house ? if you have, also check the "Addon coil" on the top of the blower fan or top of the heat exchanger too. you may have a plugged coil which also limits the air flow.     furnace房间发出奇怪的味道,象是烧了什么东西,但味道又非常淡,没法判断到底是什么味道,但应该不是烧塑料或者电线皮那样的味道.赶紧打电话给ENBRIDGE,对方确认不是否臭鸡蛋味;还是要求关暖气和开窗,之后派人来检查之后说不是漏煤气,来人说是电器故障,可能是天冷暖气负荷大,风扇长时间运转过热!说如果是风扇的事,其他暖气出风口也能闻到同样的气味,一查果然如是.
    请问这种情况该怎么办?是不是风扇到一定年限该换了(房子十年)?感谢!

      If the furnace fan were over work and starts over heat, it generas some kind of smell. But the smell is different to burning plastic or rubber, the guy from gas company says is kind of correct.

      it sounds like a over heat fan motor,due to not enoug air flow to cool it down.
      Next time when it happen again,(same smell again), open up the furnace fan compartment. Use your hand to check the fan motor temperature, if you CANT NOT land your hand on the motor body for 2 or 3 second or longer and the smell are strong, it is proven that, the fan motor is over work and it is over heat. (Have you clean the air filter?)

      You have to make sure that the air filter is clean, not plugged, plugged air filter limits the air flow in the blower fan area, it will cause the fan motor over heat due to lack of air flow. (The fan motor needs the air flow to cool it down).

              CFM= Cubic Feet per Minutes, it is a measuring unit of air flow.
              Do you have strong air flow at the floor register where the hot air outlet is?
              The add-on coil is for air conditioning in summer; however, the coil is in line with the air passage. If the coil is plugged, it will limit air flow.
              Good to know that, the smell is gone, it quite possible that, the fan was over heated for the time, if this is the case, smell may come again, when furnace operating more frequently in the colder day. If it does happen, check the fan motor temperature.
