if you think and sure, the wire you found in basement is the bell phone wire then go.........................

it is easy, go to the electrical breaker panel, (basement or garage), the bell incoming wire will also be landed in the same location

there for, if you think the wire you found in basement is a bell wire. the other end of the wire should be easily found in the electrical breaker panel as well, after locking at the panel,if you see the same wire there. just follow 2 out the 8 colour coded wire to see which is hook to the bell jountion terminal, then these two wires are the pair hooked up for your home phone, good luck,

          The single pair of phone wire to your home may not be able to handle more than one number; however, from the Bell control room/switch room to the next hub, one single pair handles multiple numbers. specially after the open of the phone market in early 90's , more company can tap in Bell wire net work, That is why phone charge are so cheap this day, in 1980 was $3cnd a minutes call to HK and Taiwan. it was charge more to call to main land China, Compare today less than $10c, phone card is one good example.
