is it true?

if you are lucky. Canon don't tell this anyone, but *all* of its digital cameras have a shutter limit, causing D30 to take 30.000 shots, D60 60.000, and D1 about 150.000. After this, the shutter do not sync anymore with the flash. To repair this it takes 10 days and costs US$ 300. Best value for your money? buy Nikon! you can trust! It seems Canon found another way to make money with their digital cameras. I think the camera have an internal counter, when a preset limit is reached the problem happens, forcing the owner to give more money to have the camera fixed, and all they do is reset the counter with a proprietary software. What a shame, Canon!

    • No.
Any electronic-mechanical shutter has its life span, regardless canon or nikon, just like a car won't running forever. It's stupid to believe someone can produce a camera running forever. BTW, Canon's shutter life is well documented. Run a search on internet you can find plenty of topic coverage. They didn't hide it. Why got so excited?
