Yesterday, I sat in front of the nation’s Senate Judiciary Committee alongside four other CEOs of social platforms – but more importantly – in the same room as parents, families, and young people, with unimaginable courage, who shared heartbreaking online experiences.
I made my personal commitment extremely clear – that X will do its part to make the internet safer. Yesterday’s hearing should be a wakeup call for all of us – and now is the time for us all to act with URGENCY. We must all meaningfully engage on these societal issues to eradicate the dangers for children online.
As an entirely new company -- X has entirely new priorities. And the truth is out there now about what X stands for versus every other platform. X is not the preferred platform of choice for children, but we’re doing our part -- because absolute numbers are irrelevant when it comes to the protection, safety, and wellbeing of children. Every young person that uses X or any other service matters. And we’ll do everything to ensure they have safe experiences offline and online.
That’s why @X endorses policies that help victims and supports law enforcement who can bring offenders to justice. X supports the SHIELD Act, the Report Act, the Stop CSAM Act, Project Safe Childhood Act, and will help advance the Kids Online Safety Act while preserving freedom of speech for all groups.
To my colleagues in the marketing industry, let's stand united in this pivotal moment to protect children. Together, we can do so much. And if you see something we miss or have ideas on what more we can do, please tell us immediately, because we always want to get better. That’s exactly why since joining X, I have listened intently to your concerns, and we’ve built industry leading brand safety controls into the platform.
Our conviction and commitment here is real. Partner with and come back to X -- an indispensable platform that enables free speech around the world – and one that will always work to protect our most precious members of society.
