Nikon produces crisp images but sometimes with a "tone". The "tone" is not always bad though, especially for a scene with all kinds of colors that don't really look well together. In such case, the "tone" unifies them, just like oil paintings do. If I understand your message, I think we're talking about a Canon EOS 10D, which presumably does not have the "blurring" issue you just mentioned.
