枫下沙龙 / 梦想天空 / Jia Bao Yu vs Werther. How about Lin Dai Yu? Who would be the perfect match for her in the western literary world? Absolutely not Charlotte, right? Who's in your mind, Mr. Dumb?

I have never given any thought to that question.

I've never given any thought to the fact that you have never given any thought to this question. I thought you might have Juliet or Ophelia in your mind. Which one would you prefer, if they were on your list?

the reason "I have never given any thought" is simply because I tend to think Chinese literature is quite male chauvinistic -- we don't have a full gallery of exceptional female literary figures.

The analogy might be a little too stretching in my opinion. but if your argument is strong enough to support your thesis then go for it.

I'm actually not quite sure of the statement that Chinese literature is quite male chauvinistic. You meant Chinese literature in general, or Chinese literature from a historical perspective?
